Day-by-Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro International Airport
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your accommodation in Moshi, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. Rest and prepare for the amazing journey ahead.
Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
After a hearty breakfast, your adventure begins at the Machame Gate, the starting point of your climb. Traverse through lush rainforests, witnessing the vibrant flora and fauna of the region. Reach Machame Camp, nestled at 9,850 feet, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Continue your ascent through changing landscapes, leaving the rainforest behind. Encounter moorlands, characterized by an otherworldly beauty, as you trek towards Shira Camp at an elevation of 12,600 feet. Marvel at the breathtaking views of the African plains below.
Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Today’s journey takes you to Barranco Camp, situated at 13,100 feet. Along the way, pass through the Lava Tower, a striking volcanic formation, and experience the effects of higher altitude on your body. The panoramic vistas from the campsite will leave you in awe.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Embark on a challenging day of trekking, tackling the steep Barranco Wall, which offers exhilarating rock scrambling. Traverse along the stunning ridgeline, known as the Karanga Valley, reaching Karanga Camp at 13,200 feet. Take in the breathtaking sunset views over the glacier-capped peaks.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
As you approach the final leg of your ascent, journey from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp at an impressive altitude of 15,200 feet. Rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the midnight summit push. The full moon’s glow will accompany you on this extraordinary nighttime ascent.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Rise in the darkness of the night and commence the challenging trek towards Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 19,341 feet.
