Day-by-Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Transfer to Marangu Gate
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will welcome you and transfer you to Marangu Gate, the starting point of your trek. Settle into your accommodation and prepare for the exciting journey ahead. Overnight at Marangu Gate.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Begin your trek through the lush tropical rainforest, witnessing the captivating flora and fauna of Kilimanjaro. The route to Mandara Hut is relatively easy, covering a distance of approximately 8.3 kilometers (5.2 miles) with a total ascent of 900 meters (2,955 feet). Rest and enjoy the cozy hut accommodations.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Continue your ascent through scenic landscapes and diverse vegetation zones. The trek to Horombo Hut covers around 11.6 kilometers (7.2 miles) and includes a total ascent of 910 meters (2,985 feet). Take in the stunning views and settle into your comfortable hut.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
This day is dedicated to acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. Opt for a short hike to Zebra Rocks or explore the surroundings. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and take advantage of the facilities at Horombo Hut.Â
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Prepare for a challenging day as you ascend to Kibo Hut, located at an elevation of 4,700 meters (15,420 feet). This trek covers approximately 9.6 kilometers (6 miles) with a total ascent of 990 meters (3,248 feet). Marvel at the alpine desert landscapes and enjoy a well-deserved rest at the hut.Â
Day 6: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Horombo Hut
The most challenging and rewarding day of your trek awaits. Wake up in the early hours of the morning to begin your ascent to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak. This final push covers a distance of approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) with a total ascent of 1,195 meters (3,921 feet). Reach the summit at sunrise and savor the awe-inspiring views. Descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate – Return to Kilimanjaro International Airport
On your final day, trek back down to Marangu Gate. Enjoy the descending journey and bid farewell to the magnificent Kilimanjaro. Our team will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey
